Qualifications
- Must be a Canadian university researcher eligible to receive NSERC funds.

- College faculty can participate as co-applicants.
- Must complete a risk assessment form for research projects involving one or more partner organizations from the private sector.
Must consider equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in the training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for students and trainees.
Disqualifications:
- Grant applications involving research to advance a sensitive technology research area will not be funded if any researchers involved are currently affiliated with, or receiving funding or in-kind support from, a named research organization.

Program Steps
1. Create an Account: Visit the NSERC Research Portal and create an account if you do not already have one. This portal is where you will manage your application.
2. Log In: Log in to the NSERC Research Portal using your credentials.
3. Complete the Risk Assessment Form: If your project involves one or more partner organizations from the private sector, complete the National Security Guidelines for Research Partnerships risk assessment form.
4. Prepare Documentation: Gather the necessary documents for your application. These typically include:
- A detailed project proposal
- Budget and financial plan
- Letters of support from partner organizations
- CVs of the principal investigator and co-applicants
- Equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) plan
- Risk assessment form (if applicable)
5. Draft the Application: Begin drafting your application in the NSERC Research Portal. Ensure that all sections are completed accurately and thoroughly.
6. Review Guidelines: Review the Alliance grant application guidelines and instructions to ensure compliance with all requirements.
7. Submit the Application: Once your application is complete and all required documents are uploaded, submit your application through the NSERC Research Portal.
8. Monitor Application Status: After submission, monitor the status of your application through the portal. Be prepared to provide additional information if requested.
9. Await Decision: Wait for the review and decision process. You will be notified through the portal regarding the outcome of your application.
10. Follow Up: If your application is approved, follow up with NSERC for any next steps and to finalize the grant agreement.
