Qualifications

  • Must be an international literary publisher or theatre organization.
  • Must be a theatre or multidisciplinary group or collective.
  • Must be a theatre company or dramaturgical organization.
  • Must be a multidisciplinary organization.
  • Must create a validated profile in the portal to determine eligibility.
  • Theatre organizations presently receiving core (operating) grants can apply.

  • Disqualifications:

    • Organizations receiving core (operating) grants from other programs cannot apply.

This program offers your business up to $20,000 for translating Canadian literary or dramatic works into other languages. This funding can cover translation and surtitling costs based on standard rates in your country.

For literature projects, the program can cover up to 50% of the translator’s fee. For theatre projects, you can propose the total anticipated costs for translating scripts or surtitles.

Additionally, for literary translations, you can use the funds for promotional expenses. Eligible promotional costs include ads, posters, bookmarks, publicist fees, and special events to promote the translated title.
