Repayment Terms and Interest Rates:

Eligible Expenses:
- Salary of an intern, including benefits.
- Professional development costs for interns from Indigenous, Racialized communities, official language minority communities, or those with print disabilities (excluding travel and accommodation).
- Fees to third parties for business plan research and analysis.
- Executive training related to business planning.
- Administration fees.
Ineligible Expenses:
- Salaries of owners, executives, and employees.
- Travel and accommodation expenses for executive training.
- Any expenses incurred before April 1, 2024.
Fees:
- No application or processing fees.
Qualifications
- Must be an individual publishing firm.
- Must have total sales of own titles under $1 million.
Must have received funding from the Publishing Support sub-component of the CBF’s Support for Publishers component in 2023-2024, or from the most recent funding cycle of the Canada Council for the Arts’ Supporting Artistic Practice – Literary Publishers program.
Disqualifications:
- Firms that did not receive the specified funding in the required timeframes.
- Firms with total sales of own titles exceeding $1 million.
Description
This program offers your business valuable support to help with the high costs of publishing and marketing Canadian-authored books. You can receive financial assistance for internships and business planning projects.
For internships, the program can cover up to 50% of eligible expenses or $15,000. If the intern is Indigenous, from a Racialized community, from an official language minority community, or has a print disability, the coverage increases to 75% of eligible expenses or $22,500. This funding helps you train new professionals in publishing and technology, allowing them to contribute to your business in ways you might not otherwise afford.
For business planning, the program can fund up to 50% of project costs or $50,000. If your business is owned by Indigenous people, members of a Racialized community, or is an official language minority publisher, the coverage can go up to 75% of eligible expenses or $50,000. This support helps you develop strategic plans to improve your business activities and competitiveness.

Complete the Application Form: Fill out the application form with accurate and detailed information about your project.
Submit Electronically: Submit your completed application form and supporting documents through the Canadian Heritage Online System by 5:00 p.m. (Eastern Time), January 31.
