Repayment Terms and Interest Rates:

  • Social and recreational facilities, municipal assets, and community halls.
  • Business retention and attraction strategies.
  • Projects identifying and implementing investment opportunities.
  • Construction and renovation of capital assets supporting community economic development.
  • Non-capital costs, technical expertise, and incremental project-related human resources.

Ineligible Expenses:

  • Core infrastructure (roads, bridges, water, sewer).
  • Administrative space or office buildings.
  • Residential projects.
  • Operating expenses, including routine and ongoing maintenance.
  • Rolling stock, standalone equipment, and furniture purchases.
  • Standalone studies (feasibility, engineering, strategy, etc.).

Fees:

  • No application or processing fees.

Qualifications

  • Must be located in Northern Ontario.
  • Must be one of the following:

    • Municipality
    • Indigenous community
    • Not-for-profit organization
    • Local Services Board
  • Disqualifications:

    • Projects involving core infrastructure such as municipal public services (roads, bridges, water, and sewer)
    • Projects involving administrative space or office buildings
    • Residential projects
    • Projects covering operating expenses, including routine and on-going maintenance
    • Projects involving rolling stock
    • Stand-alone equipment purchases
    • Stand-alone furniture purchases
    • Stand-alone studies (feasibility, engineering, strategy, etc.)

Program Steps

  1. Create Your Account:

    • Fill out the registration form with your first name, last name, user name, organization name, email, and password.
    • Confirm your email and password.
    • Click "Register" to create your account.
  2. Log In:

    • Use your newly created credentials to log in to your account.
  3. Complete the Application Form:

    • Follow the onscreen instructions to fill out each section of the application form.
  4. Prepare Documentation:

    • Gather necessary documents, including:
      • Financial statements
      • Business plan
      • Details of intended use of funds (e.g., quotes for improvements, repairs, or renovations)
      • Evidence of alignment with a community or organizational plan
      • Demonstration of the project's technical, managerial, and financial capacity
