  • Funds cannot be used for activities that receive funding from another Canada Council program.
  • Funds cannot be used for activities listed on the general list of ineligible activities.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Canadian arts organization.
  • Must play a role in advancing artistic practice and cultural development in your local or regional community.
  • Must offer at least 1 public presentation, exhibition, production, or program in your region annually.
  • Must presently receive core support from this component OR have received 1 composite grant or 2 Canada Council project grants in the last 5 years (excluding certain components and programs).
  • Must be an incorporated not-for-profit arts organization.
  • Must work with a professional staff.
  • Must have at least 5 years of continuous professional programming that is accessible to the public.
  • Must have had total revenues exceeding $75,000 in each of the last 3 years (some exceptions may be considered).
  • If applying for the first time, must have had a conversation with a Program Officer to confirm eligibility.

  • Disqualifications:

    • Organizations that receive funding from another Canada Council program for the same activities.
    • Organizations that have not had a conversation with a Program Officer if applying for the first time.
    • Organizations that do not meet the financial, administrative, or programming criteria listed above.

Description

Program Steps

  1. Create an Account on the Portal: Visit the program's portal and create an account. Submit one or more profiles for validation at least 30 days before you plan to apply.

  2. Prepare Required Documentation: Gather the necessary documents to support your application. These include:

    • Financial statements for the last three years.
    • Proof of incorporation as a not-for-profit arts organization.
    • Details of your professional staff.
    • Records of continuous professional programming accessible to the public over the past five years.
    • Evidence of total revenues exceeding $75,000 in each of the last three years.
  3. Consult with a Program Officer: If this is your first time applying, have a conversation with a Program Officer to confirm your eligibility.

  4. Complete the Application Form: Fill out the application form available on the portal. Ensure all sections are completed accurately and thoroughly.

  5. Submit the Application: Submit your completed application through the portal by the specified deadline, which is 15 January 2025.

  6. Await Notification: After submission, await the notification of results. The program will inform you of the decision according to their deadlines and notification schedule.

  7. Follow Up if Necessary: If additional information or clarification is required, be prepared to provide it promptly to facilitate the review process.
