Type of Financing: Grant
Repayment Terms and Interest Rates:
- This program does not require repayment. It is a grant, meaning the funds provided do not need to be paid back.
Eligible Expenses:
- Innovative technology that minimizes agricultural waste.
- Tools and systems that optimize farm efficiency.
- Equipment and practices that secure business assets.
Ineligible Expenses:
- Any expenses incurred before April 1, 2023.
- Transactions between related parties (e.g., family members, close business ties).
- Barter or exchange transactions.
- Cash payments without an official company voucher and proof of payment.
Fees:
- There are no fees associated with applying for or receiving this grant.
Qualifications
- Must be a Primary Producer.
- Must be responsible for input costs for a crop, bee, or livestock operation that produces at least $25,000 worth of farm commodities annually.
Must have a valid and current Alberta Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) certificate or completion letter, or obtain their EFP certificate or completion letter before the end of the Project Term.
Disqualifications:
- Landlords whose only interest in a crop, bee, or livestock operation is ownership of the land.

Program Steps
Complete Application Form:
- Fill out and sign the Farm Technology Program Application form when the application intake is open.
Prepare Documentation:
- Gather the following documents:
- Financial statements
- Business plan
- Quotes for equipment or technology
- Proof of Alberta Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) certificate or completion letter
- Proof of payment for any expenses incurred
- Gather the following documents:
Submit Application Form:
- Submit the completed application form and supporting documents via:

Confirmation of Receipt:
- If you email your application, you will receive a confirmation email.
- If you mail your application, you will receive a confirmation phone call.
Respond to Requests for Additional Information:
- If your application is missing information, you will be notified via email or phone and asked to submit the missing details.
Await Processing:
- Application processing times are not currently available. Updates will be provided as soon as possible.
Approval and Reimbursement:
- Upon approval, ensure all invoices are under the legal name stated on your application.
- Provide proof of payment for all expenses, including processed cheques or credit card statements.
- Ensure leased items are paid in full and provide proof of transaction.
