Program Steps
1. Contact the Future Wabanaki Lead: Reach out to the Indigenous Experiential Education Coordinator at your university to express your interest in the program. They will guide you through the initial steps.
2. Prepare Documentation: Gather the necessary documents to support your application. You will need:
- Business registration details
- Proof of operating in New Brunswick
- Evidence of commitment to cultural sensitivity in the workplace
- Details of the student's placement, including supervision and training plans
- Any additional documents requested by the coordinator
3. Develop a Placement Plan: Create a detailed plan outlining the student's role, responsibilities, and learning objectives. Ensure it includes how you will provide supervision, training, and mentorship.
4. Submit Application: Complete and submit the application form provided by the Future Wabanaki lead. Attach all required documentation and the placement plan.
5. Participate in Consultations: Be prepared to engage in surveys, focus groups, and consultations as required. This helps ensure the program meets its goals and provides valuable feedback.
6. Await Approval: The Future Wabanaki team will review your application. They may contact you for additional information or clarification.
7. Finalize Agreement: Once approved, finalize the agreement with the Future Wabanaki lead. Discuss any funding opportunities available, such as wage subsidies or travel costs.
8. Implement the Placement: Begin the student's placement according to the agreed plan. Ensure ongoing supervision, training, and support throughout the placement period.
9. Monitor and Report: Regularly monitor the student's progress and provide feedback. Participate in any required evaluations or reflective holistic assessments.
10. Complete the Program: At the end of the placement, complete any final reporting requirements and provide feedback on the overall experience. This helps improve the program for future participants.
