Description

This program allows you to hire a temporary foreign worker without needing a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). This makes the hiring process faster and easier for your business.

You will need to submit an offer of employment through the Employer Portal. After that, the temporary foreign worker will apply for a work permit. Once they arrive, you must meet certain conditions and responsibilities to avoid penalties.

This program is beneficial because it simplifies the hiring process and helps you quickly fill positions that are crucial for your business operations.

Program Steps

  1. Register for an Employer Portal Account: Create an account on the Employer Portal. This is where you will submit your offer of employment.

  2. Prepare Necessary Documentation: Gather the following documents needed for the application:

    • Business registration or incorporation documents
    • Proof of business operations (e.g., financial statements, tax returns)
    • Job offer details (e.g., job title, duties, wage, and working conditions)
    • Proof of compliance with provincial/territorial labor standards
  3. Submit the Offer of Employment: Log in to the Employer Portal and complete the offer of employment form. Ensure all details are accurate and complete.

  4. Pay the Compliance Fee: Pay the required compliance fee through the Employer Portal. Keep a receipt for your records.

  5. Provide the Offer of Employment Number to the Worker: Once the offer is submitted and fee paid, you will receive an offer of employment number. Provide this number to the temporary foreign worker.

  6. Assist the Worker with Their Work Permit Application: Guide the temporary foreign worker on how to apply for their work permit using the offer of employment number you provided.

  7. Prepare for the Worker’s Arrival: Ensure all necessary arrangements are made for the worker’s arrival, including accommodation and orientation.
