Eligible Expenses:

Qualifications
- Must be a for-profit corporation or an eligible not-for-profit corporation, municipality, or hospital in Canada.
- For-profit businesses operating outside of Canada are also eligible.
- Must involve students or postdoctoral fellows from Mitacs partner colleges and universities in Canada.
- Full-time students and postdoctoral fellows at universities in select Mitacs partner countries are eligible.
- Participants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or international students over the age of 18.
All academic disciplines are eligible.
Disqualifications:
- Part-time students are not eligible.
- Recent graduates without full-time student status are not eligible.
- Interns cannot simultaneously hold other Mitacs internships or fellowships that overlap.
- Postdoctoral fellows are not eligible for internships at organizations where they have already been a full-time employee.

Program Steps
Review Program Details: Familiarize yourself with the program requirements and guidelines available on the Mitacs website.
Prepare Documentation: Gather the necessary documents for your application. These typically include:
- Completed Mitacs Accelerate proposal
- Intern CV (optional template available)
- International pre-departure form (for travel abroad or to Canada)
- Code of Conduct (for travel abroad or to Canada)
- Supporting documents as required by your university or province
Draft Your Proposal: Write your proposal following the Mitacs Accelerate template. Ensure it meets the eligible research and adjudication criteria.
Get Feedback: Share your proposal with all participants, including your Mitacs Advisor, for feedback and necessary revisions.
Collect Signatures: Obtain signatures from all required parties: intern(s), professor(s), partner contact, and the university's Office of Research Services or equivalent.
Submit Proposal: Email your completed proposal package to your Mitacs Advisor at least 16 weeks before the planned start date.
Attend Orientation: If your project involves international travel, attend any pre-departure orientations mandated by your home university.
Wait for Review: Allow approximately six to eight weeks for the peer review of your proposal. Proposals requiring revisions or with multiple internships may take longer.
Receive Outcome: Mitacs will contact all participants with the outcome and any applicable instructions.
Invoice and Payment: Upon approval, the partner organization will receive an invoice. The funds will be forwarded to the academic institution once the partner's contribution is received.
Start Your Project: Begin your project only after funds have been forwarded to the academic institution. Ensure you follow all guidelines and maintain communication with your Mitacs Advisor throughout the project.
