Financing Details
Type of Financing: Grant
Eligible Expenses:
- Technology to meet certified organic market requirements.
- Modification of facilities to meet certified organic requirements.
- Development of new organic products or markets.
- Purchase of specialized equipment such as portable grain cleaners, flame weeders, and pasture renovators.
- Land conversion to certified organic farmland.
- Strategic initiatives to increase the organic sector’s capacity, including consulting fees, salaries, and market development activities.
Ineligible Expenses:
- General operational costs not directly related to organic certification or strategic initiatives.
- Non-organic related activities or equipment.
- Administrative and overhead costs exceeding 10% of eligible costs.
Fees:
- No application fees.
- No repayment terms or interest rates, as this is a grant.
Qualifications
- Must be located in Prince Edward Island.
- Must be one of the following:
- Mi’kmaq First Nations or other Indigenous groups
- Agricultural producer
- Small to medium-sized agri-business
- Agri-processor
- Agriculture industry organization, club, or association
Must have current Organic Certification or have applied to an Organic Certification Body and participated in an organic certification inspection.
Disqualifications:
- Businesses or organizations without current Organic Certification or without an application to an Organic Certification Body.

- Specify the project start and end dates.

- Indicate your recipient type (e.g., primary producer, agricultural landowner, processor).
- Identify your type of industry (e.g., dairy, potato, beef, hog, grains and oilseeds).
- Sign the declaration and consent to personal information.
- Provide demographic information (optional).
