Use of Funds:
- Funds can be used to support PhD graduates and post-doctoral fellows in their R&D projects.

- Funds cannot be used for general operational expenses of the company.
- Funds cannot be allocated to activities not directly related to the approved R&D project.

Qualifications
- Must be a for-profit company with R&D operations in Ontario.
- Must partner with a principal investigator at an accredited, publicly-funded Ontario university (for institution-based fellowships).
- Must have clearly defined R&D activities, milestones, and outcomes for the project.
Must be involved in industry-driven research and development projects related to automotive and smart mobility technology, such as Connected and Autonomous Vehicle (C/AV) technologies, Electric Vehicles (EV), battery technologies, metallurgical technologies, or other related areas.
Disqualifications:
- Companies without R&D operations in Ontario.
- Non-profit organizations.
- Companies not involved in the specified technology areas.

Program Steps
Complete the Client Intake Form: Start by filling out the client intake form available on the OVIN website. This form will help initiate your application process.
Contact a Business Development Manager: After submitting the intake form, a Business Development Manager (BD) from OCI will reach out to discuss the opportunity and guide you through the next steps.
Prepare Required Documentation: Gather the necessary documents to support your application. These include:
- Program Guidelines
- OCI Funding Agreement
- Eligible Expenditures Guide
- Full Proposal Questionnaire
- Letter of Support Template
- Data and Information Sharing Protocol (DISP) documents
Develop a Project Proposal: Work on a detailed project proposal outlining the R&D activities, milestones, and expected outcomes. Ensure your proposal aligns with the fellowship's objectives.
Submit the Application: Once your proposal and documentation are ready, submit your application through the appropriate channels as instructed by your Business Development Manager.
Review and Feedback: Your application will be reviewed by the relevant authorities. Be prepared to provide additional information or clarification if requested.
Approval and Agreement: Upon approval, finalize the funding agreement and any other necessary documentation. Ensure you understand all terms and conditions before proceeding.
Project Kickoff: Begin your project as per the approved proposal, ensuring all milestones and outcomes are met within the fellowship duration.
