Repayment Terms and Interest Rates:

  • There are no repayment terms or interest rates. This is a grant, not a loan.

Eligible Expenses:

  • Create Grant: Living expenses (up to $800 per month), direct project costs such as materials and supplies, pre-production research, documentation costs, and equipment rental.
  • Share Grant: Travel expenses, shipping/freight, limited reproductions, artist fees, framing, professional fees, installation costs, and facility and equipment rental.
  • Learn Grant: Program costs, materials and supplies, and travel expenses.

Ineligible Expenses:

  • Create Grant: Capital costs, festivals, contests, events, and expenses for not-for-profit organizations.
  • Share Grant: Capital costs and purely commercial self-promotion ventures.
  • Learn Grant: Capital costs, subsistence, self-study programs, and programs that are part of full-time study programs.

Fees:

  • There are no fees associated with applying for or receiving these grants.

Qualifications

  • Must have a PEI address as the primary residence for a minimum of twelve consecutive months.
  • Groups or bands must have a majority of members be residents of PEI.
  • Must meet professional artist status by fulfilling three or more of the following criteria:

    • Received compensation considered part of personal or business income.
    • Presented work to the public through recordings, exhibitions, publications, screenings, performances, readings, or other means.
    • Devotes a reasonable amount of time creating or disseminating work.
    • Received reviews or appraisals by public and/or peer assessment/recognition.
    • Membership in a professional or industry association or guild recognized by their discipline.
    • Undertaken formal education or training from educational institutions or self-directed training demonstrating commitment to skill development.
  • Disqualifications:

    • Amateur artists and/or students.
    • Not-for-profit organizations.
    • Artists who have moved their primary residence to another province or country within the twelve consecutive months previous to the application deadline.
    • New project submissions from applicants in default on any reporting, project completion, or financial obligation to Innovation PEI.

Program Steps

    • Acceptance into a program (if applying for Professional Development)
    • Written offer for exhibition, performance, or tour date confirmation
    • Letters of support (if applicable)
  2. Prepare Your Project Description:

    • Outline the artistic vision of your project.
    • Explain the impact on your career development or arts practice.
    • Detail the project plan, including the timeline.
    • Specify what you will produce (for Creation Grant).
    • Describe how you will disseminate the work (for Creation and Dissemination Grants).
  3. Create a Detailed Budget:

    • Include all projected income and expenses.
    • Provide full disclosure of any federal and provincial government assistance.
  4. Complete the Online Application:
