Repayment Terms and Interest Rates:

Eligible Expenses:

  • Tuition fees or fees charged by the training provider.

Ineligible Expenses:

  • The funds cannot be used for any expenses outside of the approved training costs.

Qualifications

  • Must be a private or not-for-profit sector employer.
  • Business must be based in Saskatchewan.
  • Business must have 1-50 employees.
  • Business must have a valid ISC Corporate Registry number.
  • Trainees must have a valid Social Insurance Number.
  • Trainees must be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident of Canada, or temporary resident with authorization for emergency travel from the Government of Canada holding a valid Canadian work permit.
  • Trainees must be existing employees of the applying employer (currently on the payroll of the company).
  • Training must be delivered by a Saskatchewan-based third-party that has been in business for at least one year and is not affiliated with the employer.
  • Training must be a minimum of 8 hours in length per trainee by the same training provider and completed within 4 months.
  • Training must start within 4 months of the application date.
  • Training must result in a credential (record of completion, certificate, grade, etc.).

  • Disqualifications:

    • Publicly funded organizations such as health regions, post-secondary training institutions, public libraries, municipalities, and school divisions.
    • Temporary foreign workers.
    • Temporary residents without authorization for emergency travel and a valid Canadian work permit.
    • Volunteers.

Description

This program offers your business financial support to train your employees. You can get up to $5,000 to cover training costs. The minimum amount you can apply for is $1,000 per training program.

You choose the training program and the employees who will benefit. The government will reimburse 100% of the approved training costs. Payment is made after you complete the training and submit the final report, including proof of expenses.

This funding can be used for various training costs such as tuition fees, textbooks, software, and examination fees. Program Steps

  1. Complete the Employer Application:

    • Fill out the online Employer Application form.
    • Ensure all sections are completed accurately.
  2. Prepare Documentation:

    • Gather the following documents:
      • ISC Corporate Registry number for your business.
      • Direct Deposit Payment Request Form.
      • Selected trainee name(s). If training more than 10 participants, complete the Application Trainees list.
      • Details of the chosen training provider and program, including dates and costs.
      • For customized training, ensure the Training Course Outline is completed by the training provider.
  3. Choose a Training Provider:

    • Select a Saskatchewan-based third-party training provider that has been in business for at least one year.
    • Ensure the training program meets the requirements (minimum 8 hours, completed within 4 months, results in a credential).
  4. Submit the Application:

    • Upload all required documents and submit the completed application online.
    • Ensure the application is submitted at least 10 business days before the start date of the training.
  5. Application Review:

    • Wait for the Ministry of Immigration and Career Training staff to contact you within two business days to confirm receipt of the application.
    • Be prepared to provide any additional information if requested.
  6. Negotiate Contract:

    • If approved, negotiate a contract for the funded training with the Government of Saskatchewan.
    • Report any changes to the contracted training to the ministry as soon as possible.
  7. Complete Training:

    • Ensure the training is completed as per the agreed schedule and requirements.
    • Maintain records of all training activities and expenses.
  8. Final Reporting and Payment:

    • Submit final reporting, including verification of actual expenditures.
    • Receive reimbursement upon completion of the final reporting and verification process.
