Qualifications

  • Must be an agriculture or food producer or business.
  • Must be located in northern Ontario.
  • Must be involved in creating innovative food or agricultural products new to the business.
  • Must aim to enhance productivity and/or improve efficiency or resource use through innovation.
  • Must seek to reduce ecological impact and carbon footprint through innovation in process or technology.
  • Must be able to provide a 50% cost-share for the project.

  • Disqualifications:

    • Businesses located outside northern Ontario.

Description

This program offers your business up to $10,000 in funding, covering 50% of your costs. If you collaborate with two or more businesses, you can receive up to $25,000.

You can use this money to buy equipment or materials that help create new food or agricultural products. This can also enhance your productivity and efficiency, or reduce your environmental impact. For example, you could purchase processing or packaging equipment to expand your product lines, or invest in technology to improve crop production and resource use.

The funding aims to boost your business's innovation and competitiveness. By adopting new technologies or processes, you can increase your operational efficiency and reduce your carbon footprint. This not only makes your business more profitable but also more sustainable.

  2. Prepare Documentation:

    • Gather the necessary documents to support your application. These may include:

  3. Complete the Application Form:

    • Fill out the application form with detailed information about your business and the proposed project. Ensure all sections are completed accurately.
  4. Submit the Application:

    • Submit your completed application form and supporting documents to your regional representative. They will review your submission to ensure it is complete and meets all requirements.
  5. Review and Approval:

    • Your application will be reviewed by the program administrators. They may contact you for additional information or clarification.
  6. Receive Funding:

    • If your application is approved, you will receive up to $10,000 at a 50% cost-share for individual projects, or up to $25,000 for collaborative projects involving three or more businesses.
  7. Acknowledge Funding Support:

    • Ensure that all promotional materials related to the funded project include the appropriate logos, taglines, and text to acknowledge support from SNAPP and FedNor.
  8. Implement the Project:

    • Use the funds to purchase the approved equipment or materials and implement your project as outlined in your application.
  9. Report on Project Outcomes:

    • After project completion, provide a report detailing the outcomes and benefits achieved. This may include improvements in productivity, creation of new products, or environmental benefits.
